Exhibited at the Cable Technology Show with our partner Toyo Technica
June 19 & 20: Exhibit at Cable & Wireless Technology Show
On June 19 & 20, we exhibited Spamhaus Threat Intelligence with Toyo Technica at the Cable & Wireless Technology Show held at the Tokyo International Forum and introduced our products and services. The customers who visited our booth were from various industries such as Internet, cloud services, hosting, etc., and included sole proprietors, security personnel, engineers, and company representatives. Thank you very much for visiting our booth. Everyone seemed to be well aware of the cyber-attacks during the most recent Olympic Games and seemed to have a strong interest in cyber-security in preparation for next year's Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Regarding cyber attacks on past Olympics: At the London 2012 Olympics, there were reportedly 165 million and over 200 million cyber security event issues, most of which were small issues such as password changes, logon failures, etc., but there were 6 There were six major cyber-attacks. For example, before the Olympics, there was a cyber attack from an Eastern European group. But there was no damage. Also, on the day of the opening ceremony, there were 400,000 attacks from 90 IPs for 40 minutes and a DOS attack on the power supply system, but like the above, there was no actual damage. We managed to prevent this because we had a cyber security team in place in London to deal with the situation in advance. (including blacklists provided by Spamhaus, etc.)
Like the London Olympics, the 2016 Rio Olympics was the target of tens of millions of attacks and sustained DDoS attacks reaching up to 540 Gbps. Recent DDoS attacks can massively infect Internet-connected devices (IoT devices: webcams, Wi-Fi routers, home appliances) with viruses, through which data is sent en masse; similar attacks were also observed at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang was observed during the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, and some communications were affected.
